Recently, Iran has had some trouble with certain countries in the United Nations. The UN has been concerned about Iran's use of nuclear power. Some countries, including the United States, believe that Iran could be using their technology to create nuclear weapons. This fear may come from the fact that Iran had been testing ballistic missiles.
Iran dismisses these accusations as false, claiming that the rocket was meant to help the country's space research program, and promising that it would use nuclear power only as a source of energy.
Still, Britain, France, China, Russia and the United States and Germany have agreed to pass new sanctions against Iran. It seems that Iran will have limited access to nuclear power until the International Atomic Energy Agency comes up with a resolution.
Some countries, such as South Africa and Iran itself want the UN to wait for what the IAEA has to say on the issue before the UN makes any decisions. However, the U.S. says that it has "waited long enough." At the moment, it sounds as if the sanctions against Iran will be passed.
